Ahhh… Da Hool. Germany’s DJ Hooligan was part of the so-called ‘first generation’ of Techno and doesn’t it show through his music. It has reached #1 in the UK dance singles chart and #5 on the ARIA club chart. This was one hell of an anthem when it was originally released in 1997 and in fact, this was the song that introduced me to dance music one dreary morning watching Rage.

Now if you enjoy your phweets, bleeps, woot-woots, tica-tics and my favourite, chica-chic-chics, Da Hool is your tool. All I can emphasise is that this track is just massive EVERYTHING. Awesome techno with some massive treble and bass: great to go hooning around town on that late Saturday night! (Or why not try and do that on a Sunday night in the ‘burbs and see the reaction.) Vocals-less (whoo!), this track is in its own weird way, melodic. And what’s so great about this track is that it travels… massive rhythms, phat beats and it is definitely not drab techno.

I am still a huge fan of the Original Radio Edit. The 1997 video clip was of a few people dancing in the back of a car, cruising around Berlin’s Love Parade. This original sold over 6 million units worldwide. You’ll find yourself bouncing along in your seat or on the balls of your feet. But in the meantime, remember to blare this track out of your stereo and share your obnoxiously loud music!
