(Compost/Creative Vibes)

This compilation provides a really good mirror of what the Compost label is all about. Bordering on the genres of house, electro and tech house, this unmixed cd provides us with moments of funk, sleaze and at times some darn good music.

The groove and hypnotic ‘Child of Dance’ by Lopazz captured me almost immediately by its upbeat and edgy funk which seemed a perfect track to be listening to as a made my way to a party over the course of the weekend. Of course, the tracks are not all pumping as this one. Zwicker’s ‘Made Up’ is a slower example of an electro/housey opener to the cd with Syrup’s ‘51 Cents Left’, providing a nice follow up, tingled with a nice rolling beat and a somewhat typical synth pattern through it. It also has its moments of sophistication with Phreek plus one’s ‘Boogie Beat’ providing a mature sounding piece of music that verges on 60’s porn and psychedelic influences- interesting indeed.

There is a really nice house track in the middle of this compilation. ‘Close Life Off’ by Tyree Cooper and Matt Flores has all the right ingredients of what house music is all about. It’s got the beat, the style, the soul and enlightening vocals to match. Keisuke Suzuki’s ‘Water Samba’ is another track that appealed to me but due to vastly differing reasons. Starting off slightly like ambiental jazz, there is a unique oriental sound that is captured, with it being to cliché. ‘Crisp Cort’ by Martin Peter, for mine is the track of the disk, with a continuous, dirty broken beat throughout the track, incorporation various elements of electronica to make a sheer delight to listen to.

I really believe that there is an art in the selection of tracks, whether it be a mixed or unmixed CD. In this occasion, we have something for the long drives (both morning and night), for home duties and for relaxation. This is where the overall strength of the complilation hold true. There are CDs out there, so pigioned hold that it is possible to like none of the tracks. Here, it would be difficult to find a person not enjoying at least one peace. The Munich based label has provided us with a really nice array of differing tunes which is a great reflection of what they are actually and have been doing for the last twelve months or so.

Nobody has hearted this, be the first Be the first!
