(Renaissance/Stomp)
In 1991, when Last Rhythm was first released to the clubs, I was yet to reach the embryo stage of my clubbing career. Fifteen years later we are given a taste of some remixes by Martijn Ten Velden and Parham & Dominic.
From the first beat Martin Ten Velden’s remake, grabbed my attention: upbeat, techy, whilst staying true to the original. How many times have we heard a true classic being destroyed by a commercial, cheesy sound? Not this time round. Although, keeping a classic progressive feel to it, the track fuses at times electro-style components with a beautiful, ether bound breakdown which I can correlate sounds incredible on a loud system.
Swedish pair Parham & Dominic also provides us a teched-up progressive interpretation which is a little more moody than Martin Ten Velden’s remake but regardless would do considerable damage on a dance floor, considering the breakdown of epic proportions which they have managed to create. Filled with the infectious energy of the timeless original, we are taken deep into the rabbit hole of bliss and are held in trance, building and building until the track explodes into ecstasy.
The third track of the release is the original. Enough said. Last Rhythm – Last Rhythm is released through Renaissance on 8th May.
