If you’ve heard Montero’s last offering on Renaissance, you should know what to expect here. Electro bumping basslines, nice stabby tech-trance synths, long snare rolls that actually work without making you want to reach for the nearest laser-looking light fixture, and an insistent groove.
Is it groundbreaking? Not neccesarily (as can be said for 99% of dance music, and probably 95% of the good stuff – Lostep notwithstanding of course!) but it does work on the dance floor, and the breakdown/build tension/release cycle is effective without being too standing-around-on-the-dancefloor-bored long.
The original mix is a wee bit less demanding, with a nicer, more full latin percussion set at work instead of the big electro bumps of the original. The acapellas are just what you’d imagine for a song that only was ‘wung-wa-woah’ as its vocal hook.
Overall not a bad release at all, and certainly one I’ll be playing on a regular basis.
