Kid Crème’s first release since 2004’s Doing My Own Thing, The Game has hit written all over it. A classic vocal house track, the Kid’s Voodoo Mix features the classy soulful vocals of newcomer Bashiyra (also heard on Superchumbo’s U Know I Love It) over a dirty but slick bassline. Everything about this track screams professionalism – not that you’d expect anything less from a producer of the Kid’s calibre. A Radio Edit of the Kid’s Voodoo Mix has also been released. Generally, I don’t feel that radio edits do a dance track justice, but in this case I actually prefer the shorter mix (although still over 5 minutes long). Listening to the original mix for the first time straight after the radio edit, the original came across as stretched out and lacking some of the impact of the radio edit. Two more mixes of The Game have been included on the CD single. First up is the Kid’s Voodoo Dub Mix. In this version the track has been stripped and distorted, the vocals barely present. It’s more suitable for the depths of the night. The Kid’s Piano Mix is quite the opposite; the piano combined with synths lending an 80s house feel to the track.
