Ben Watt is best known as one half of Everything But The Girl. Working with Tracey Thorn, the pair is best known for the single Missing and the album Walking Wounded. However, since the release of the best of compilation Like The Deserts Miss The Rain in 2002, Ben has been concentrating on his own independent record label, Buzzin Fly Records. Set up in 2003, Ben has released his more dance-oriented productions on the label, alongside tracks from new talent and DJ-producers on their first record.

For the track Attack, Attack, Attack Ben joins up with MC Baby Blak. Originally one half of the group Ill-Advised, the Philidelphia based hip-hop MC has worked with artists including the Roots, Jazzy Jeff and Cash Money. Baby Blak’s style of MCing displays a depth that reaches far beyond that typically found in today’s commercial hip-hop.

That’s not to say Attack, Attack, Attack is a hip-hop track by anyone’s definition. It’s instantly identifiable as deep house, a very melodic deep house track at that. The poetic lyrics of Baby Blak (“We can always go back / The stories, jokes, anecdotes”) perfectly complement the deep jazzy beats and synth driven melodies. Ben has also recently collaborated with Baby Blak on the track Old Soul, and both can be found on the latest compilation from Buzzin Fly Records, Buzzin Fly Vol. III.
