Paul Harris and Jules Peake, aka Superbass, have delivered with their latest project ‘I Go To Pieces’, which features some hot remixes by Jon Gurd, Danny Freakazoid and Tapedrive.
The vocal mix is a smooth house number. There’s not too much to this track but the vocal hook is an absolute killer. There is some subtle variation through the track, with cool high synth sounds blending in and out of the vocals. Clearly this track is all about the vocal. It has a definite summer feel which I guess suits since it’s hitting most dancefloors in Europe. The Superbass Mix is pretty much identical to the dub mix (which is itself the vocal mix, without the vocals), but it’s a little more DJ friendly with a more driving kick.
The Jon Gurd Mix is where it’s at, though. It’s an absolutely tasty edit with growling sawtooth bassline and heaps of high end bleeps. It really made me feel like getting up and doing the robot. It’s got a great electro house energy in typical Jon Gurd style, bringing in the vocal beautifully. I would be surprised if this wasn’t caned around the country. Danny Freakazoid’s mix is a little more subtle, with a nice soothing flow. It’s more suited to home listening or a day by the beach. You might see this mix pop up on a house chillout album or two. Tapedrive brings a more synthesised approach, which is distinctly different. It’s got enough for those who love their funky tech style.
Overall, you’d find this tune in the armoury of most electro house DJs. Pity it’s not summer here in Australia!
