Aussie label Hussle have ladled out another serving of upfront electro business with Tonite Only’s ‘Danger (The Bomb)’, and once again have justified their growing reputation of one of Australia’s best dance floor based labels.
From the first beats the original sounds like something you’re more than likely to hear pop up on a Ministry of Sound compilation (if it hasn’t already). With neatly organised and sweetly produced electro funk it’s hard to sit still to. The lyric is all processed electro, but the music reigns supreme here with some simple but highly effective chords, bass and beats making for a fun track to groove to.
Breaks heads may be initially surprised to find that the accompanying remix from Kid Kenobi and the increasingly popular Hook n Sling is a venture into electro 4/4 territory, rather than the upfront breaks sound with which both artists are most commonly associated. But when you look past obvious associations and focus on the track itself, you start to realise just how strong it is.
Although it doesn’t stray too far from the original, there is a complexity to the use of layered bleeps, claps, bass warps and synth that means the track becomes more enticing and more moving with each listen. It doesn’t quite inhabit the echelon occupied by Mylo’s brilliant remix of ‘No More Conversations’, but those who dug the aforementioned track will find plenty to like here, with electro, breaks and house DJs all catered for.
A crossover track that gets better with every listen, both tracks are high quality dance floor destruction. Get it if you love to dance!
