Jenny Wilson is ensuring Scandinavia again takes over the airwaves. This is a single off her forthcoming debut album Love and Youth.
Whilst this isn’t in this author’s tastes, the original is folk pop with beautifully crafted vocals. There’s some good play between the vocals and acoustic guitar. It’s very easy on the ears and thus will surely get some radio airplay.
It also features mixes by The Knife and Joachime, which would see it home in any chillout or minimal set/album. They stay true to the original mix with the vocals again the main focus of both remixes. The vocals now give it slightly trancey undertones (not in that way!) with enough growling filter sweeps to keep it interesting.
“Jenny Wilson is like a synchronized sea, flippant with an electronic shoreline, honey water, capriosca curls, new romantic swirls in 4/4 shells, skipping, hiccupping and moving,” said Luke Steele of The Sleepy Jackson. How can you argue with that?
