The last time I listened to anything by Kleinenburg was the Everybody mix CD for Renaissance (which, from memory, I think I won from ITM, so thanks guys! I love that CD!). I wasn’t really sure what to expect from his new single, I knew that Sander had changed sounds, but I didn’t realise just how much!
The track is everything you’d expect from the current electro-house movement. Predictible, to say the least. Normally this is where I’d pan such a track, however the experience of this producer seems to make the difference. After a disheartening first listen I left the track for a few days and revisited it on the track’s merrits, rather than my pre-concieved notion of what I think Sander should sound like. This Is Miami is a huge synth led track from start to end. the stabs and filtered sweeps seem to do the track and vocals justice. The song seems to rise for the entireity to the main breakdown, which is simple and effective. The final crescendo is where this track is always going to be a winner for dancefloors the world over, however.
It seems the track was made for one purpose, which it does perfectly… Peak time mayhem! There’s no doubt that wherever you go you’ve either heard this track before, or you’re going to hear it soon.
