The LP ‘Love Mysterious’ will be the third in Kaskade’s album release career and is due soon. For those of you that are familiar with the Kaskade style, the first single, ‘Be Still’ is certainly no different. Kaskade has established a strong reputation for solid house releases and remixes and this tune fits the consistent production and catchy vocals that you come to expect from the man from San Francisco.

Kicking off in the usual manner of a steady beat with just the right amount of highs it staggers for a little while before dropping a catchy little guitar riff delivered by Mark Phillips. The chorus follows shortly after before a minor breakdown for a verse. Female vocalist Sunsun brings an enchanting sound to this release and can hit the highs with relative ease. With 6 mixes of ‘Be Still’ on the sampler, the extended mix I feel tends to drag on a bit, particularly when the electric guitar solo creeps in. I personally have not heard many house releases with an extended guitar solo in it and it kind of spoils the sound although it would sound at home on the radio.

There is some stand out mixes on the CD though with both Robbie Rivera and Jay-J lending a hand each. Robbie brings a nice touch to it and dirties it up a little without too much focus on the vocals whilst Jay-J’s remix is as vocal heavy as the original. Members Only deliver a punchy version with their Micro Dub which is certainly the highlight for me alongside Robbie’s take. Naturally there is the radio mix to complete it all with a Holosound remix which also delivers the goods.

The remixes on this single release are definitely not as catchy as the original, although the lack of the guitar solo’s and repetitive vocals make them original and it’s great to hear other’s interpretations of another Kaskade release. Not outside of the usual Kaskade sound that you’ve grown accustomed to and if you are a fan, you will not be disappointed.
