New, young, local trance talent Tydi paves the way for an interesting aural journey on his new single ‘Familiar Streets’. It offers trance based foundations tinged with music flavours from all ends of the dance spectrum, some of which really show promise.
The radio edit is upbeat trance, although a little stock standard. An awesome break drops in after a couple of minutes and with it the track has some zap, but it does not grab you deep down. If the track was longer, it could have been more complete, but it is a radio edit so you can’t expect much more.
The original mix up next is a completely different story. It drops a bit in tempo and begins with an ethereal carry before kicking into upbeat trance. This mix fills the gaps the radio edit left open, completes the work per say and is in another league. A spacey break leads to an effects laden voiceover which put the track right up there. It even winds down to a sole beat before closing off. Wicked as.
The Nick Galeah Remix takes a more progressive house feel, resonating with phat bass and spooky vibes. It starts off rolling and thumping before hitting an uplifting emotion. Very nice! The Bexta remix is pitched right up with a faster rhythm but is a bit stock standard, as is the more experimental and somewhat industrial Rob Klasic mix.
The original and Nick Galeah remix make this CD a worthwhile purchase and a good addition to any music collection.
