Marco V follows up with the second instalment in his Combi:Nations comp series, with a two-disc 35 track album that confidently reflects the tracks he is spinning out in his DJ sets worldwide at the moment. The Dutch tech-trance superstar recently made history when he became the first person to play on the same night in all three rooms at the legendary London nightclub Turnmills. This release is a strong reflection of the style and tempo of his current DJ sets with the two discs taking different settings with a Backroom disc and Mainroom disc making up the album.

There is plenty of exclusive Marco V re-edits, as well as a new production Any Better Or? The enjoyable Backroom mix features the latest twisted tech-house and electro, with production partner Benjamin Bates’ Backtracking, Sebastian Leger’s Hit Girl and Oxia’s Domino the highlights of a solid first half to the compilation. Adding to this selection of peak-time anthems is The Spoons with Nova Heart (Redanka Plugged Mix), which is light enough to be classified progressive but has enough slamming elements to firmly entrench it in the tech and electro house categories; a gorgeous tune and my favourite track of the first half of the album.

If you think the Backroom mix is solid enough then it gets even better with the Mainroom mix, which is a thumping mixture of tough techno, slammin’ electro-house, and – being a Marco V compilation – it couldn’t be complete without some subtle tech-trance tracks. Alloy Mental’s production We Have Control gets things off to a flying start. Other highlights include Phatzoo’s Twisted Tweak, Cirez D’s anthem Mouseville Theme and Ego Stereo’s Slamming Sukodu. My own personal favourite though is the devastating Beckers production Color Me Blind (Original Mix – Marco V Edit), which is followed brilliantly by the slamming Original Mix of Christian Smith & John Selway’s track Work It (Original Mix), which is big-room electro at its absolute finest.

I cannot recommend this album highly enough. It’s a sublime selection of tech, electro and trance and is not only mixed seamlessly but has been programmed to absolute perfection. This album has been sitting on repeat in my stereo ever since the day I got it, and with every listen a new track is discovered and the repeat button gets yet another working over. Being a massive fan of Marco V – not to mention a massive fan of tech, electro, tech-trance and trance – this album was always going to score big points in my book. A fantastic two disc selection to satisfy the tech, electro and trance lovers out there and is a must buy for any Marco V lovers; easily dwarfing the first Combi:Nations album.
