Ugly Duckling have been known for their catchy rhythms and upbeat rhymes in their past releases and this one is no different. Whilst the raps and foundation of the tune remain intact, for the first time ever, an Australian producer has had the opportunity in working with the Californian hip hoppers and done a bang up job of remixing ‘Slow the Flow’.
We all know Ashley Anderson by his DJ moniker Katalyst. With multiple releases on his label Invada (also home to Perth based Fdel) with big basslines and crunchy beats, Katalyst has now brought some Aussie flavour to our Cali friends. It should be mentioned that this is no small feat, as previously the only other remix had been done by none other than Cut Chemist. “I’ve been a fan of Ugly Duckling since their first record, Einstein is a true record fiend so it was great to have the opportunity to do this remix. It was an honour as they very rarely let other people remix their work” says Katalyst.
Getting airplay on Triple J’s Hip Hop Show and by DJs across the country, Katalyst has remained true to the Ugly Duckling sound and added his own subtle scratches and interpretations throughout. All over a great release and well worth checking out if you are a Katalyst and or an Ugly Duckling fan. Buy it now exclusively from the iTunes Store.
