Just for the record, I actually like ‘Flaunt It’, as shameful or reaffirming as that it is. The big thing this summer seems to be sampling the early nineties, and while a trashed dance floor at 3am might appreciate this wanna-be anthem, it falls dramatically short of fitting into the quality tune pigeon hole. I am sure that the artist’s intention was not to rewrite music history, but even as far as feel good tunes go this one would be better served in Bagdad.
With its instant gratification attitude and heavy rock guitar, this tunes has more break downs than the NRMA would know what to do with. Sadly, as is often the case with these single releases, is that the remixes are not much better. The Highpass remix is filtered at best, and the radio mix only shortens the pain. It has all the components of tracks like Bob Sinclar’s new money maker, and I am sure it has masses of dancefloor appeal for the uneducated. As the label suggests, this is Bimbo Rock. Get it, listen to it, and discard it.
