(Hussle/EMI)
Most people would be familliar with this song by now, with the most popular being the Aston Shuffle remix that was featured on the 2007 Ministry of Sound Annual. And the reason it made an appearance on that massive release is that it is a bloody brilliant song.
The original is nothing to write home about: it’s fairly old now, an average sloice of soft electro with an entertaining vocal. The Sucker DJs mix lives up to it’s name: it pretty much sucks.
So the Aston Shuffle mix is where it’s at: a fine piece of house music with an electro twist, the absolutley amazing drums make it quite possibly one of the best tunes of the year. With lots of amazing edits on the vocal, and a bassline that just has you begging for more, the song is driven along and it sucks you in nicely, leaving you breathless. Aston Shuffle have definitely carved a niche out for themselves, with a signature vibe that has yet to be succesfully duplicated.
They’re actually are a trio from Canberra, who are doing amazing things in dance music. Championed by the likes of Hook n Sling, Kid Kenobi, Mark Dynamix, Malente, Chris Lake as well as every local Canberra DJ, the trio are remixing Claude Von Stroke’s The Whistler and Chris Lake’s next smash hit record Carry Me Away, their remix having been played by Lake numerous time on his Australia tour. These ‘soon to be hits’ will be out anytime now.
Bottom line: buy this release. On the vinyl, the Aston Shuffle remix is the A-side while the original can be found on the B-side: that alone states the quality of the remix. You can’t go wrong.
