The Australian who has worked with Ugly Duckling and countless others, Katalyst (aka Ashley Anderson ) is back. His debut album Manipulating Agent in 2002 went on to earn him an ARIA nomination for ‘Best Dance Artist’ and the two most coveted DMA awards: ‘Best Producer’ and ‘Best Album’ at the event and featured guests like Gift of Gab from Blackalicious, Adrian Utley from Portishead*, alongside DJ Leeroy Brown tearing it up on the turntables. Without a doubt in my mind, Manipulating Agent was a release that still gets thrashed in my sound system to this day.

This is the first official 12” single lifted from Katalyst’s highly anticipated forthcoming album What’s Happening entitled All You’ve Got and features some of the best Australian and UK MC’s on the scene today – namely Ru C.L, Hau from Koolism and Yungun from the UK. With the additional Blue Guerilla and Sinister Seven mixes, this double-sided 12” also has a hidden gem, and no doubt another sample of the new album in I Know a Place.

Consistent with Katalyst’s signature sound of powerful horns, strings and beats, this is one soulful tune that sticks in your head long after the song is over. Infectious female vocals combined with world class MCs gives this tune a broad appeal, reminiscent of Danger Mouse or Lupe Fiasco’s finer moments. The vocalists make social comment about being true to their art, themselves and the music, in an ever changing industry. The anticipation for the new Katalyst album grows stronger by the day…
