After a suspiciously long line of great remixes, Poxymusic released their first original entitled Our Break on Australia’s on Hussle Records, and it was far from the high calibre to which we were accustomed. Stripped of the original breakbeat elements that elevated them to the top of their game, this song seemed to recede straight back into the nether realms from whence it came faster than they originally rose to the spotlight.

Their new release She Bites, again on Hussle, is a little bit more palatable. They neglect to include any of the elements that made them rise to the top of their game and instead take a good idea and water it down to electro house. Although it isn’t technically bad, its generic lyrical content and questionable attempt at becoming a mainstream dance hit with its female vocal inclusions means it still lacks that decent hook to keep you coming back.

The remixes leave a little to be desired as well, although the Swen Weber adds a little bit of the ‘buzz buzz’ bassline which could possibly entice local DJs to give it a shot and perhaps include it on a Ministry CD, but it’s far from classic.
