The Todd Terry Allstars are a slick outfit. With Todd Terry himself at the front of the group and the ‘Allstars’ being made up of Kenny Dope, Terry Hunter, Tara McDonald and DJ Sneak, it ain’t no backyard outfit. Strictly Rhythm is putting the groove back into house music. Todd was the remix genius behind giant crossover house tunes like The Jungles Brothers with I’ll House You as well as Missing by Everything But The Girl. Both had huge commercial success and changed the mentality of house music lovers around the world in the 1990s.
Having cut his teeth on the Chicago house scene, Todd has put together a group that would be the equivalent of ‘The A-Team’ of house music. I’ll leave it to the readers to decide who plays BA Baracus. Decidedly upbeat and very radio friendly, Get Down is already being spun by Pete Tong on Radio 1 and being noted for it’s ability to lift in an old-school fashion. Get Down has been handcrafted by top producers and DJs and is a light and vibey track that will still be getting play long into our summer.
It is only fitting that Todd Terry pull together an Allstar team for this release. Todd was the first major producer to work with the label back in its inception and it seems logical that he is the chosen one for this, the first single release on the newly formed Strictly label (brought back into existence by Defected ).
