If your twelve inch subwoofers placed neatly into your car haven’t yet been worn out by Maximum Bass volumes One, Two and Three then Maximum Bass Four is now available. If you are ‘down’ with it or your flavour of music is hip hop and R&B, disc one will have you bouncing to tracks such as Chamillionaire feat. Krayzie Bone’s Ridin’, Rick Ross’s Push It and Chingy feat. Jermaine Dupri’s Dem Jeans. With Akon and Eminem chiming in with their hit Smack That, while DJ Shadow and the crew show us that freaks are still cool with the track, 3 Freaks.
This first disc features a host of current chart superstars, including the one-and-only 50 cent, proving the disc will have your stereo pumping out those intense bass sounds in sync with your ‘souped up’ suspension. Tracks worth a mention even for those who are not usually into R&B include Chris Brown’s Gimme That, Timbaland feat. Justin Timberlake & Nelly Furtado – Give It To Me and Enur feat. Natasha’s track Calabria 2007 – that addictive jazzy beat now with an added Urban lyrics.
Now disc two is the personal favourite, moving away from the bouncing tracks and into the more current electro and harder-edged tech house tracks heard all over the club scene. After hearing disc one, Klaus “Heavyweight” Hill’s touch on Disc Two is a pleasant change. From the very first beat you can tell his mission is to blow your speakers with bass filled beats, especially with the opening track, Don Diablo – Blow (Mason Remix). Groove Armada then slip you into a ‘superstylin’ mode with this year’s hit Get Down with Stush and Red Rat. Delve a bit further along the track list on disc two and you will eventually come to Public Enemy – Bring the Noise Remix, one of the more exciting tracks, which engages the listener through creative build-ups, eventually leading into the Chemical Brother’s Do It Again; followed a couple of tracks later by Klaus’s own creative track Bang That Thing before rounding out the second CD with Armand Van Helden feat. Fat Joe and BL’s party favourite Touch Your Toes, Sgt Slick & Pitch Dark‘s, daft punk styled Automatic Machine, Steve N King’s bass packed, bouncing track Bounce and very last of all, Turbofunk’s twisted track Gotta Move.
So if you enjoy mixing together two very different types of music like peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, or your sweet and sour stir fries, then this compilation may be for you. However, don’t let the title of album fool you, sometimes you might still have to turn up the bass even just a little more to really enjoy some of these great tracks!
