With a release that is produced by two of the trance genres’ super heavyweights, you’d suspect you’d be in for something special. Tiesto and BT’s collaboration, which has all the trimmings and base for a solid track, is enjoyable and well produced. It doesn’t completely blow you away but is still a good overall listen over the five mixes. You can pick the talent and experience from both artists throughout, but it lacks a little bit of the magic that is present on previous releases.
The radio edit is up first and even though I am never huge on radio edits, this one is of a decent length and bearable. Usually I find these too short but this one is several minutes in length and concentrates on the melodic vocals that feature throughout the single. It is definitely more pleasing to the masses and can almost be described as ‘pop trance’. It does finish a bit abruptly though.
It is the other four mixes that have the more traditional trance length of five plus minutes and more deeper, trancier sounds. The Jerry Ropero vs NBG Afterhours Mix starts with a nice, slow high hat ridden build up with BTs’ vocal carrying it along nicely. It’s about two and a half minutes before the nasty, booming techno beat thumps out, integrated with other minimal sounds to make up an on par tech-trance mix.
Next up is the Richard Durand Remix and it is your more solid, up tempo “give it to me” trance. A solid as beat empowers this track but almost takes a little away from the other sounds. However, there is an awesome break laden with break beats which peak into a drum roll.
At number four is the pick of the mixes with Airbases’ interpretation. This one is more fast paced again and is a real peak of the night track. Airbase really does this track justice and this is the more traditional Tiesto sound we are familiar with. This is the hands in the air feel I was waiting for. Airbase uses BTs’ vocal perfectly – it is never over utilised or underdone. The first breakdown is brilliant, starting off with the vocal before ascending into an explosive emotion of energy and good vibes.
Last off is the Adam Kay, Pettigrew & Soha remix. It is not bad but it is really overshadowed by the previous Airbase mix. There is some housey piano on the breaks which is stand out from the rest but still doesn’t reach outstanding heights.
Overall, it is entertaining but is still far from the trance sensations and classics these two have previously produced. The Airbase track is one we are sure to hear and this release will strike some chords with trance fans but not all. Not bad but not unbelievable.
