I am a sucker for a big uplifting pop-dance tune, and that’s exactly what the Shapeshifter’s have delivered with their single ‘New Day’.

Featuring strong female vocals from Jenna G (well known for her killer vocals in the drum & bass scene), the tracks starts off with a funky disco feel and an uplifting string sample splashed over the top. It’s simply good pop dance music! It is very easy on the ears, and the simple repetition means that there’s sure to be arms in the air singing when it’s dropped in club land.

Aside from the extended mix, there are a number of remixes accompanying the single, including the Nocturnal Mix, Dutch producer/DJ Erick E’s remixes, and Markl’s vocal and bounce tech dub. Erick E’s remix removes the heavy strings, but puts more emphasis on the disco/funk bassline, really showcasing Genna G’s vocal talent. Meanwhile, Markl’s vocal mix gives the tune more of a jazz feel, adding a touch of sophistication.

Overall, a very strong showing from the Shapeshifters and yet another tasty appetiser for their upcoming long player.
