New York house mainstay Todd ‘The God’ Terry continues his resurgence with a 2CD mix compilation for the revived Strictly Rhythm imprint: and hasn’t he done one hell of a job. Whether it’s upfront exclusives, forthcoming dancefloor delights or classic ‘back in the day’ cuts you’re after, Strictly Rhythm has all bases covered and Strictly Todd Terry is a great continuation of the revived imprint’s drive to reignite the house movement.

CD1 is full of winners, starting off with Youngbloods’ 1991 Strictly Rhythm classic You Got Me Burning Up. George Morel features soon after in the form of Let’s Groove while Todd Terry bursts forth with the forthcoming modern classic that is Play On featuring Tara McDonald, appearing here for the first time on a compilation. Elsewhere on CD1, Marlon D shines with his Traxsource #1 Jesus Creates Sound, River Ocean take us back with Love & Happiness while Grand High Priest keep things fresh with their new Strictly Rhythm cut My Guitar.

CD2 keeps the beats coming along. Quentin Harris’ My Joy featuring Margaret Grace is a notable highlight but, let’s be honest, this whole compilation is pretty sharp. Terry’s mixing is spot on and his track choice will evoke many memories for heads keen to be transported back in the day, if only for a few hours.

Mood II Swing, Robbie Rivera and several other cuts by Terry all do the trick on CD2, while Barbara Tucker rounds off the mix with her 1995 seminal offering Stay Together. This is a fine follow up to Tiefschwarz’ first Strictly compilation in September but of course, very very different in sound. Todd Terry has proven he is back with a vengeance and his linking with the ‘going places’ Strictly Rhythm and Defected camps can only mean one thing; mayhem on a dancefloor near you, very soon.
