Following the success of past compilations Smash Your Stereo and Your Disco Will Eat You, Australia’s super club Onelove returns with Mobile Disco: a three disc release featuring tracks and remixes from artists such as Daft Punk, Felix Da Housecat and Justice, just to name a few. Mixed by residents Disco Mafia, Kaz James and Acid Jacks the CDs keep with the flow of a night out with the first disc titled ‘Midnight’, the second ‘3am’ and some ‘Backroom’ action to bring it home.

If you like a sing-a-long then the Midnight CD is sure to be your cup of tea. Disco Mafia kick off the compilation with one of summer’s biggest hits Show Me Love, an update on the 90s hit from Robin S by the same name with Australian singer Karina Chavez providing the updated vocals. Reworking classic tunes can be a risky exercise but I am happy to say that Mobin Master’s updated take on this track passes with flying colours. Generally the Midnight CD is refreshing and impressive, and with a track list that contains work from artists such as Groove Armada, Junior Jack and Dave Spoon this is to be expected. Revisiting the time when house music had a little more soul, the CD gets off to a great start delivering a mix you can really groove to. While towards the end of the disc this groove is lost a little as Disco Mafia steer the CD towards a more electro based sound, the stand out tracks for this CD would have to be *Groove Armada’*s newest single Love Sweet Sound and the laidback remix of Ali Love’s Secret Sunday Lover by Tom Neville.

Kaz James takes over at 3am with his latest production Breathe first up on the CD. Kaz’s talents are utilized further as we travel down the track list to Ride the Storm originally from Carl Kennedy Vs MYNC Project that he has remixed. This uplifting vocal track is one of those feel good floor fillers that you will just fall in love with. This CD is really a mixed bag as it crosses genres from electro and house to progressive and even some techier sounds. Kaz has not restricted himself in track selection and has succeeded in carrying off an eclectic mix which features work from an array of talent including Sydney based DJ/producer Goodwill and well respected international artist Chris Lake. There are certainly a few surprises on this disc and if you like a steady flow to your music it may take some getting used to. Tracks that should not be skipped on this disc include With Every Heartbeat, a new release for Robyn on the Modular label, Sebstien Leger’s remix of Dreams by Quench and the suitably named Street’s Sound by Joachim Garraud. With the second disc finished it’s time to head to the Backroom…

A huge fan of Acid Jacks since Honeysmack renewed my love for acid house in 2006, I was really keen to hear their addition to the compilation. Those familiar with the club will know that these crazy cats rip the place to pieces with their chaotic blend of dirty electro, acid house and classic tracks from years past. Anything goes in the backroom when Bing and Honeysmack come to play. Already warmed up from the last two CDs , Acid Jacks get straight to it with the classic hit Get Ready for This by 90s dance giants Two Unlimited. With no time to rest the mash up continues, unleashing a concoction of energized electro, dirty bass lines and cheeky lyrics that are cut up to produce that tough and relentless sound we have come to expect from the duo. Enforcing the quality of ‘Australian Made’ production, Melbourne artists Harris Robotis and Muscles have made it on to the track list accompanied by Acid Jacks own release Mookie, a bizarre tune with high pitched vocals that only its creators can explain, but I’m sure they won’t! Mixing the old with the new, the CD revisits some unforgettable dance floor classics and features remixes from current favourites such as Daft Punk and Justin Timberlake. There are a stack of great new tracks on offer although the stand out for me is the wacky ‘We are prostitutes’. This track from Adam Sky and Mark Stewart features some awesome build ups that are sure to have hands in the air. Receiving play from international artists like DJ Falcon I am sure it will be a huge summer hit. Perfect for clubbers who like music with balls, the Backroom CD is my favourite of the three.

Attending Onelove only twice in my clubbing career I wasn’t sure what to expect from Mobile Disco, I was pleasantly surprised. Featuring plenty of tracks that will dominate the air waves this summer you certainly get you monies worth. Packaged in the latest fashion designs and colours, just like the patrons who walk through its doors every Saturday night, Mobile Disco really is your portable piece of Onelove.
