Terrible tweaking twosome Chris Carter & JHz have teamed up once again to challenge your eardrums with some more beats under the name Roxiller. It’s been a while since the last Roxiller release… there’s been nothing since the 2006 double A side Creature Feature/Turkey Jerky in fact. They’ve been cooking some more twisted techfunk, though, and this release is from the pairs’ ingeniously titled record label Record Records.

Roxiller Must Die contains ultra sharp production with tight snares and a hard hitting bass drum. Demented robots try to get their voices heard through the processed beats. There’s pulses of electro energy to keep the listener on track, and stray drum rolls shake things up as a retro voiceover announces, “You will be killed immediately.” A floor rumbling tech-bomb constantly threatening to go off.

Last Rites is the dub version of Roxiller Must Die. It retains some of the same atmosphere but channels it into a straight 4/4 beat. A tougher beast than the A side, the beat hits harder and the samples are cut, sliced and murdered with only bits and pieces of them surviving the rework. “If you lie, you die.” Ohhhh-kay.
