San Francisco-based Dirty Bird label mainstay Claude Von Stroke has certainly been a busy man of late, recently touring our shores as well as finding time to remix Samim’s seemingly ubiquitous track Heater. This latest remix jaunt sees him tackling Sydney boys Poxymusic’s recent Warpaint 12”, reshaping proceedings towards his signature moody tech-house, teasing with an extended opening section of minimalist, pin-prick kick drums, before sending the original track’s looped male ragga vocal gliding over an ominously brooding backdrop of sub-bass pads and grinding digital textures.

There’s also a distinct concession towards more adventurous early-morning dancefloors in the form of the sinister revving engine build-ups, which are more than guaranteed to send people in hysterics when played over a huge system, and call to mind Audion’s speaker-shearing destructive antics. Not bad at all.
