Kaz James is one half of Bodyrockers, and only if you’d been living a body under a rock for the past couple of years would you be unaware that he’s one of Australia’s genuinely talented songwriters when it comes to the dance music genre. His latest offering Breathe is no exception and has been around for a while. If you bought the One Love: Mobile Disco release, you would be immediately familiar with this tune. It has also been receiving a far bit of airplay on the commercial stations, so you could well know it already. The vocal hook is infectious, the deadpan delivery of the verse is enough to keep anyone interested, be it on the dance floor or just pumping out the volume in the car. And the electro bass is just classic Kaz James. Now that was the news on the original mix.

The better news is that the Thomas Gold mix is absolute dynamite. ‘Solid Gold’, so to speak. The break down in this is awesome and will make every dance floor it is dropped on go mental. This will see the happy clappers go nuts! The bassline is like a hot dollop of chilli sauce with a Waterboys-like chorus and the vocalist from Faithless just dropping in to say ‘hi’. Brilliant! Nic Galea also gives this a turn and deviates from wigged out spacey to over the top heavy bass. A bit too much at opposite ends of the spectrum, but it still works.

All the mixes on here are great, but just for the Thomas Gold mix alone I give this 10 hands in the air out of ten. Kaz James, take a bow.
