Pole Folder’s much anticipated debut mix album is finally here! Global internet radio powerhouse friskyRadio has launched their new label imprint friskyRecords with Destinations, which is masterfully put together by one of the world’s finest progressive artists, and Frisky has recruited its own resident DJ and international superstar Pole Folder AKA Belgium’s Benoit Franquet to help the flagship mix CD release Destinations. And the results are absolutely breathtaking.

The journey (and it is a journey) begins with the effervescent Fabian Armogedo selection Universe, that seamlessly floats out of the specially written intro first track. The initial stages of the mix have a warm-up feel to it but are no less enjoyable. The mix finds it’s groove early and then starts to get ‘busy’ with the Chad Cisneros remix of Andy Moor & Michael Wilson’s Control Me, and Contrast by Clubbervision. As the mix starts to heat up, so does Pole Folder. With masterful programming and seamless mixing, the Belgium maestro drives the audience into frenzy with deep, hypnotic, driving, progressive goodness. The mix hosts layer upon layer of quintessential progressive house anthems courtesy of luminaries Kevin Yost, Spektre and Leon Bolier to name but a few.

The pick of the mix is latter inclusion To The Top by DJ Yellow & Astrid Suryanto. A heavenly, mind-bending progressive piece of production, it’s the pinnacle of the purple patch as Pole Folder takes the tempo up a notch and gives the mix a unique club set mix feel to it. No matter whether it’s a mix compilation or artist album, I’m all for having music that makes me want to move. Music that makes me want to dance is what I urge and crave, and Pole Folder dishes up a smorgasbord of progressive anthems that make you want to move. He’s clinical as he teases the audience with the tempo of his set, never leaving his under-riding groove that is laid so deep early on in the mix.

In summary this is one of the best progressive albums I’ve heard. Ever. Full stop. While Desyn Masiello and Paolo Mojo try and emulate the feats of Sasha, John Digweed and Nick Warren who built progressive music to what it is today, you can add Pole Folder to the top echolen of the world of progressive music. As Destinations burns a hole in my stereo player after being on repeat for two weeks, rest assured, this album will stand the test of the time. Pole Folder finally has shown us what we’ve all known he was capable of from his productions, and he is truly one of the world’s finest progressive artists. Destinations is a must have album for any serious progressive fan.

Yep I have to agree Cruisy. This is comp of the year so far for me. So many beautiful melodies and attention to sound design and programming over the top of a wonderful groove. A perfect example of quality progressive house.
