This the third in the Vinyl Pusher series and being a fan of the first two, I couldn’t wait to get my hands on this little beauty. The brand has established itself as a harbinger of electro and four-on-the-floor house music, and this collection doesn’t disappoint.
The first CD is mixed by house heavyweight Mr. Timothy and has a veritable treasure trove of dance tunes on it. He really delivers a solid set of mammoth music. There are so many great tunes on here, I don’t want to spoil the surprise but suffice it to say there are appearances from Deadmau5, Simian Mobile Disco, Dennis The Menace and many more. Every single track epitomises the direction and feel of electro and straight up house that we’e enjoying at the moment. There is not a single dog on here, and it will serve as a top gear up to that big night out.
Normally a package like this engineered by two DJs means that one CD is stronger than the other, but not in this case. One of Melbourne’s unsung heroes DJ Jazz also gives us a blistering collection of dance tunes. For me in particular, the insertion of Open Sesame is an absolute gift from the annals of house music. Combine that with Nick Coleman’s Faces of Meth, and the listener will not be disappointed with Jazz’s collection.
If you like your house music strong without any discernable traces of pop but still highly accessible, then this is the collection for you. Vinyl Pusher have excelled once again. Ten hands up out of ten.
