Guess what? Daft Punk are playing at TZU’s house – at least that’s what it sounds like on the title track from their new album. Never a group to stand still, the band originally formed in 1999 as a side-project for members of Melbourne’s Curse ov Dialect and Pan, bring a much more electro sound on this track.
Tony Espie was enlisted to mix the album, ensuring that the analogue synth and 808 bass drum sound is just right. Joelistics and Count Bounce provide vocals, and as we’ve come to expect from their 2 previous albums, deliver tight verses, driven along by a slinky bassline that takes us back to a time before ‘electro’ was hijacked by wankers in tight pants with shit haircuts. If this is an indication of what we can expect of the album, run – don’t walk – to the store and pick it up.
