A good EP is like a short story. Each track has a point to get across and all together the EP should flow and tell the intended story succinctly. The Day Before… is a perfect example of short story telling at it’s finest. Snob Scrilla, aka Sean Ray, moved to Sydney from the US at the age of 18 and his vocal styling is reminiscent of his American roots. His lyrics are conscious and insightful with profound concepts behind each track.

Like a good short story, each track touches on an important subject and the consistency throughout this EP is excellent. It starts with the single There You Go, an open letter to all of Snob’s doubting ex’s. Next is Mr. Officer with Del the Funkyhomosapien. A track about police harassment over dirty garage beats. The rest of the songs touch upon money, corruption, drugs, violence and all to the sound of grimy drum and beats infused with rock and hip hop.

As an EP this shit is hot. The beats are badass and the lyrics socially conscious. From the beginning to end Scrilla will have you thinking and rocking outm, simultaneously. Profound lyrics over nasty tracks, what more can ask from a seven track EP? Take the time to listen to Scrilla’s social commentary, I promise you won’t be disappointed.
