If you haven’t heard of Hed Kandi, bought one of their CDs or headed along to one of their parties, you’d have to be hiding under a damn large rock. Their compilations are famous for their ability to locate the finest house music from around the globe, and on ‘Disco Heaven’ they’ve done it once again. Of the 28 tracks on here, it’s hard to find one you’d want to skip past.
From the second the CD starts you’re transported right into the heart of club music, with sweet soulful vocals and piano driven house anthems throughout. Each track very subtly mixes into the next, keeping the flow consistent without taking attention away from the music. Each CD is jam packed, too, unlike recent mix CDs which last little longer then an hour. They both go the distance, with no ‘filler’ at all.
The best way to describe these tracks is anthems. Beautiful strings and huge, powerful diva vocals, you know each track could raise the roof of any club (or even your car). This compilation makes you wish it was summer already. Each track has the ability to hold its own, and this would be the main reason why I’m finding it hard to pick out a favourite.
It’s a welcome change to the excessive amount of electro hitting CD stores currently. This CD is truly one for the house purists, and it will please the ears of those wanting to hear something a little less ‘commercial’.
