The Sweat It Out! label proudly unveils its first CD offering, with Sweat It Out! Volume 1. This debut double disc compilation features a mix from label head honcho Ajax and a hotter than hot contribution from Melbourne producer Miami Horror (of Gameboy/Gamegirl fame). Sweat It Out! is the brainchild of Australia’s reigning #1, Ajax, who launched the label in March this year. This isn’t your standard mix album, the press conference is proof of that. Ajax, now taking on the moniker ‘the anti-king of water conservation’, invited a small selection of media – inthemix included – to a press conference held in a sauna. The photo shoot was a classic representation of the uniqueness that is Ajax.

Ajax takes the reins on the first disc, with a signature electro-tech-booty flavoured mix. The man that more or less introduced Australia to ‘mash-up’ puts in an exemplary performance with a seamless mix that’s well programmed and flawless from start to finish. The tracklisting reads like a who’s who of cutting edge dance producers, with cuts from established heavyweights like Armand Van Helden, Calvin Harris, Princess Superstar and Digitalism, as well as selections from newcomers like as Crookers and Gameboy/Gamegirl.

While Ajax is a seasoned veteran of the compilation scene, Sweat It Out! Volume 1 is definitely a good opportunity for him to properly represent himself and ‘his’ sound. Free to pick the tracks he wants to play, it gives Ajax the freedom to work within his own parameters and the resulting mix is a accurate representation of what you’d come to expect from seeing him in a club environment. The highlight of the mix is without doubt Big Money Comin, a monumental club destroyer by Crookers.

Moving on to disc two, it’s Melbourne’s Miami Horror who takes the controls for an epic electro disco journey. One of the hottest producers of the moment, Miami Horror has set the world alight with monster remixes of This Heart Attack by Faker, Stardust’s seminal classic Music Sounds Better With You and The Presets’ Talk Like That. The second half of the album is dripping with his trademark disco sound. It also showcases Miami Horror’s production prowess, with two monster remixes included – Datarock’s FaFaFa and later in the mix Grafton Primary’s I Can Cook. It’s not just his solo work on display, as Horror also gives his band a plug with the latest from Gameboy/Gamegirl, the aptly named Disco House.

In summary, Sweat It Out! Volume 1 is all that you’d expect from a label headed up by Ajax. It’s a peaktime mash-up on disc one and a set of shimmering pre-party nu-disco on disc two. A must buy for every Ajax fan.
