Martin Eyerer has been a respected name in electronic music for years now, and his first album has more than lived up to his reputation. From start to finish, Word of Mouth delivers fresh, cutting edge music that combines deep, dark and funky into one delicious treat. This is definitely one of my favourite releases of the year. The quality is phenomenal, with every track pure dancefloor gold.
Decent Track is one of the standouts on the release. A rolling bassline with rolling melodies to match, this track hooks you into the flow straight away. The solid grooving continues with Azul; its lowdown, dirty bass going straight to your pelvic area. Cave Canem and La Dolce Vita are another two goldies, both with a more upbeat and funky style to them. Basically the whole album rocks and if you like techno, minimal or tech-house, you will love this CD. This is indeed a must-have for your collection.
What’s more, Word Of Mouth comes with a bonus Best Of Kling Klong mix-CD, showcasing tracks from the esteemed label. The best of Kling Klong indeed – Martin has certainly picked the cream of the crop here. The mixing of this CD is super tight, and his experience really shines through. Kling Klong is a quality label and the track selection on this compilation showcases that superbly. It begins with a DJ F.E.X remix of Eyerer’s Wicked Line track. The spooky noises in this track push the mix deeper, giving you a feel for what the rest of the journey holds.
The third track is a Martin Landsky remix of Jou Jou by Namito. It keeps the deep and dark vibe going beautifully, and makes for the perfect transition into one of my favourite tracks on the release, Ending Up Flipping Burgers by Stephan Hinz. This track has got really funky melodies and picks up the pace of the mix with its groovy, grinding style.
Every track on this release is quality, but some highlights are Wider by Mijk van Dijk, Babylon by Martin Eyerer and Oliver Klien, and the Tom Pooks remix of Namito’s Zizou. Once again Martin Eyerer proves why he is an in-demand DJ with this release. It’s all about deep, quality grooves here. Luckily for us, it’s probably safe to say there’ll be more where that came from.
