Mark Dynamix, the man behind the ever-successful Ministry of Sound Annual series and producer of ARIA chart topping tracks such as Identify Me and Destructor has taken a a big risk, which looks to have been very much worth it. Since spending many months overseas and being influenced by various producers, especially around Germany, Mark has returned to production with a new sound and a new production name of MDX. With the new name also comes his own independent label, Long Distance Recordings.
The first single from MDX and LDR is Salt, produced in Germany with Namito. On first listen, the influences of Namito are very obvious. Mark has gone for a darker, minimal sounding track. With a sinister sound from the first breakdown, this track had me hooked. Progressing with moody strings and some eerie sounds creeping through this track definitely maintains its darkness.
The second single Road Rage, produced by MDX and Namito, is quite the opposite. Described as a tribal take on minimal, this track actually gets a tad aggressive half way through. With some lengthy synth stabs coming through, this tune truly has that ‘festival’ sound – so don’t be surprised if you hear this tune frequently over the summer period.
As a producer, Mark Dynamix has truly changed his sound and despite any criticism, he has the potential to strengthen and grow the minimal scene here in Australia.
