Fedde Le Grande is a boy genius and Funkerman needs no introduction. Three Minutes To Explain has been around for a bit, so if you didn’t recognise it by name, it’s the tune that completely breaks down to a Gregorian-type chant of; “amen, amen, just get closer, let it take over”. It’s deep and brooding, but at the same time puts people in a good mood. It’s a must have for any house DJ’s record box.
The original mix is a great example of a deep hook dragging you kicking and screaming to the floor, and here we get some fresh remixes. Patric La Funk, who I have admired for some time, trips the track out a bit. He takes it down the path with some softer, trancier undertones. It lacks the ominous vibe of the original, but it still lifts and builds in the right places. Then Rene Amesz has a stab, and for my money he should have left it well alone… I get the impression that Rene is jumping on the minimalist bandwagon, as he doesn’t really add anything to the track.
When Fedde and Funkerman pull out a tune, people take notice. It’s the original that stands out here, so perhaps somebody should have put a stop to the remixes as they seem like a waste of time. The track stands up fine on its own two feet.
