Hi-Fi Mike of ‘Stereo Flavas’ fame returns with an offering from his up coming album ‘Swim: On The Surface’, and the single he’s tempting us with is a stunningly diverse package of tunes. Everyone should remember Mike’s dancefloor smash ‘Stereo Flavas’, so it’s surprising to hear ‘Warning Heartache Emergency’ as it couldn’t be more different. In a good way!

The original is very reminiscent of Sade, as it’s down-tempo, lush, beautiful and orchestral. The vocals are a delivered by the sultry Connie Mitchell and they drip with emotion. The track is so subtley and delicious, it will no doubt prove to be a winner with all who hear it. If this is how Hi-Fi Mike means to continue, then I hope his bank manager has a vault big enough for the coin that should be coming his way.

Returning to more familiar territory, Chris Brann aka Wamdue/Ananda Project, gives this three significantly different rerubs. First up is his Wamdue Radio Edit, a commercial and friendly take that’s a bit too soft for dancefloors. It races along without threatening the neighbours.

The Wamdue full mix follows much the same territory, and although it has a spicier club beat, it doesn’t offer anything too earth shattering. Then Chris gives it a rerub under his Ananda Project moniker. This is also a bit soft, sorta like the M People (eek!)m but it might work on some dancefloors early in the night to warm up.

It’s then left to Jay-J to give it that impetus to soar on the dancefloor. He certainly manages to do just that. The track arrives with a heavier bass and beat, and it has some appropriate electro flavours, and also a beautiful break in the middle. All up, Jay-J has added his own stereo flaour to the track.

I highly recommend this track. It touches so many high points and paints such a broad picture with all the different mixes. Thank god for artists like Hi-Fi Mike, not afraid to show their soul on a track. Top effort!
