‘AM To PM’ is relatively well known and the vocal is catchy, but what really caught my eye on this release was the remixers Loveshy had gotten on board – namely Thomas Gold and K-Klass.
Thomas Gold really hits the mark with his electro rerub. It has all the right moves in the breakdown and the build, but I wonder if he uses the verse a bit too much at the beginning. As a DJ, you might want to turn to the dub version. It breaks in all the right places and the electro energy really comes through to the fore. The vocals drop in occasionally, but all in all the tune stands alone as a bona fide dance track.
With K-Klass we have a track that I have been waiting for. There’s less of the full on electro vibe, but enough energy in there that the tune is beefed up. K-Klass are exactly what their name suggests; a class act. There is a soul vibe in here, akin to Blaze, and then the full-on Italo piano feel of days gone by. Perhaps this says more about me than it does about the tune itself, but this sounds like the return of ‘smiley house’! The beauty of dance music is here for all to see, the vocal sits proudly on top of the hip-shaking bassline. Raise your hands people, K-Klass are back in the house, and it is divine.
Finally Wideboys step into to follow on from what K-Klass have laid down. Wideboys have given this their electro zip but then top it off with a softer soul vibe. Yet again, it works. Soulful house is alive and well, and that makes the world a better place. A low rise piano sits underneath the vocal and you have to say that this is where the vocal works best. You can easily imagine the true lovers of soul/gospel house carving up the dancefloor as the speakers pump this out, “hitting the lights from AM to PM”.
I really loved this release. The Thomas Gold Dub is perfect for a heaving dancefloor, and then either K-Klass or Wideboys would perfectly suit the hip shaking generation. A track that’s sure to be dynamite in the right hands.
