Defected’s 2008 summer release campaign has been impressive to say the least, and this one from self-confessed British ‘chillout producer’ Steve Miller – aka Afterlife – is one of the best. Remixes come from Groove Assassin, Charles Webster and Jovonn, and they complement the Original Mix well, making this a diverse and varied package with something for everyone.

The Original Mix is decidedly ‘chilled’, full of lush strings and dreamy effects. It’s definitely not destined to rock dancefloors. The powerful vocal comes courtesy of Cathy Battistessa, who has been dubbed ‘The Voice Of Café Del Mar’ after writing the downtempo hit ‘More Than Ever People’, and she had had many appearances on the seminal Café Del Mar album series. She is indeed a find and her performance is easily utilised to good effect by those on remix duties.

Groove Assassin turns in a typically percussive, rolling remix and one befitting his reputation as one of the most on-point remixers on the house scene, while Charles Webster’s remix is dark and moody, more of what we’ve come to expect from the Miso front man. Finally, Jovonn turns in a stellar peaktime mix as well as an instrumental. All in all a solid package; get on it!
