I’m not going to mince words; Agent 86 is one of the finest DJs this country has to offer. The fact he can mix a variety of genres – in tune – as well as scratch up a storm simply blows me away every time I see him. It’s beyond my comprehension why he hasn’t been voted #1 in the inthemix50 DJ poll yet. I guess it’s because he’s a quiet achiever, all about the music rather than the scene. Well it’s time to wake up people!

Representing on the fourth volume of the Electric mix CD series, presented by the genre defining Balance crew, we Agent 86 serving up a very relaxed, breezy and summery kind of vibe. There’s funky stuff, a strong disco influence, but more importantly it’s all thrown together with a fun attitude. The tunes sound like they could be from any era – the 70s right through to today – and this essentially makes it a timeless listen.

Some of the highlights are Aeroplane’s Pacific Air Race, the funky 80s disco vibe of Tease Me by Bermuda, the utterly groovy Fog by LSB, the Jackson 5 sounding Shake That Booty by Soundtroopers and the 303 acid flashback of Bermuda’s Galaxy Race. Throughout the mix Agent 86 drops scratches from 70s disco classics (Dynamite! Outta Sight!) and even audio from man’s first landing on the moon. This creates an amazing soundscape to celebrate life and man’s greatest achievements, including making some funky ass music!

I’m not normally all that much of a fan of the housey disco sound, but it’s really growing on me and when you combine it with Agent 86’s transcendently smooth technical abilities you end up with a CD that’s going to get plays on many occasions. Whether you’re getting ready to go clubbing or simply relaxing on a sunny Sunday afternoon with your friends and a brew, give Electric 04 a spin.

Nobody has hearted this, be the first Be the first!

Absolutely outstanding mix and release. it just so funky, moving from housey stuff through to old school electro sounds and with heaps of synths. I can speak highly enough of it... definitely worth purchasing!!!
