U&A Recordings makes it’s Revision return with the latest batch of remixes going to Mindfunkpsychedelic. For those not exactly in the know, about a year ago, Elite Force announced his Re:Vision project which bought together all artists from the Tech-funk spectrum and had them remix tracks from his debut album No Turning Back and his critically loved Modern: Primitive.
The latest remix talent? Jesse Rose, Tom Real & Black Russian and Zimbardo.
Zimbardo show off the glitching skills with a wickedly chopped up techy electro number, nabbing the vocals from the original and laying them out under a lovely beat pattern. The breakdown mid track is a fantastic showcase of glitched out electro that betters Justice on so many levels (although that’s probably my bias against Justice seeping through). Zimbardo deploy the squeaks and lasers and set them to maximum through the entire track, ensuring these no let down of futuristic sounds.
Jesse Rose’s remixes are dated but still sound as though they do belong in today’s scene. Both Remix #1 and #2 are just as effective in showing off his knack for kicking wonk filled progressive tracks. Both remixes have their own qualities and cease to remain the same. Mix #1 holds a special kind of old school flavour that brings in the trumpets and the stretched and squeezed synth work that pops in and out. Mix #2 capitalises on the stretchy synth work and adds more wonk over the first mix.
Tom Real and Black Russian prove that they make an excellent team with an energetic, screeching electro stomper that makes fantastic use of squeaks, beeps and glitches to bring down the walls. The thing I love most about this track is that Real and Russian begin the energy builds really early in the track, giving us an insight as to how powerful this one is going to be. It most certainly is, with a grinding electro main served with a side of screech, this one is guaranteed to rip dancefloors apart. I thought The Rogue Element and Tom Real did a fantastic job together, I’m happy to say that pairing him with Black Russian makes him even more of a talent and I’ll say that these two together (I know it’s early) eclipse the original pairing of The Rogue and Real.
The Mindfunkpsychedelic remixes are just another amazing showcase of talent from the never stopping bullet train that people like to call U&A Recordings.
