The mob behind Hed Kandi have got to be one of the most consistent producers of brilliant compilations around, wouldn’t you agree? Dazzlingly shiny, happy and unashamedly cheesy at times, triple-disc albums like this one always manage to get your feet moving and even send your mouth into an upward curve (err, a smile!) This is Disco Kandi at its best, so embrace it, get on the dancefloor and let the glitter ball shine.

This album features the three most treasured styles from the Kandi coffers: Twisted Disco, Disco Kandi and Disco Heaven. It also features the usual array of anthems and new stuff thrown in for good measure. The third disc, mixed by veteran DJ Jack McCord, is by far the best, with a yummy selection of remixed tunes that continue to storm the dance charts. Big names on this disc include Kaskade, Lady GaGa, Sam Sparro and Sneaky Sound System.

Having said that, Disco Heaven mixed by Steve Divine and Disco Kandi mixed by Damien Goundrie, aren’t half bad either! The first carries a huge range of happy and upbeat disco sounds (funnily enough…) from Wez Clarke & Maxine Hardcastle, Reel Sessions, Soulmaker, the ever-cool Dizzee Rascal, and Jason Phats. On the second, it’s all about Martin Solveig, De’lacy and the Shapeshifters, who join classics like Energy 52 and chart-toppers The Potbelleez.

All up, it’s a delicious round of mixes, and it’s enough to get anybody grooving. A summer essential, I say. Everyone loves a bit of Kandi!
