OK, I know what you’re thinking. America’s biggest trance DJ remixing one of the biggest pop hits of the last decade? WTF? I’ll admit that’s what I thought too initially. Then I listened to the track and realised it’s actually pretty good!
To be released with Enrique Iglesias’ Greatest Hits compilation, Lawrence does a a pretty good job of making a nice driving trance remix and letting the vocals do the work. The bassline is pretty pumping and the kick is even more so. Some extra percussion comes in around two minutes after the first verse and the synths you would expect from Lawrence and trance in general come in after the chorus and add to the feel of the track.
I really think this is a pretty good example of someone making a club mix of a pop tune that you probably wouldn’t expect to work. The epic tranceness is really held back, the vocals push the track along and the synths help them on their way. This is a good track for the DJs who want to maybe try something fun and cheeky in their sets!
