The Om crew’s latest Miami compilation for the year 2009 is a funky, deep, progressive little mix by DJ Fluid and as with most compilations today, name dropping doesn’t go astray. With the likes of Booka Shade, Fred Everything, Sebo K, Mark Farina and Ramon Tapia on the bill, this mix was destined to find a home on the CD shelves of most progressive, deep tunes and the lovers of the late Sunday afternoon session.

What we start with is Fred Everything’s deep number Mercyless with Wayne Tennant on vocal duties. A track that’s got an anthemic vibe crossed with a top little swirly lead. It’s a great start to what turns into a fantastic blend of genres.

There’s some seriously nice mixes on here, with Fluid bringing in Ramon Tapia’s swirly minimal thumper Can You Dig It straight over the outro of Mercyless. But the track that really shines on this, is King Kooba’s Slightly Burnt, which really sets the tone for the rest of this great mix. A combination of fading trumpets, subtle glitches in vocals and a filtered lead. This track would drop perfectly in any household holding a party with a lounge chair and a view of the beach. The flow continues throughout the mix dropping some energetic minimal numbers which capture the still laidback vibe extremely well.

There’s such a fantastic laidback quality about this. DJ Fluid shows that he can pick and choose the tracks for the right occasion and what he’s chosen here? A combination of deep house, funk and minimal tunes all superbly strung together to present to us, a great little Sunday afternoon groove.

Nobody has hearted this, be the first Be the first!
