As the title might suggest, Sweat is aimed squarely at the floor. It’s rhythmic shuffle is custom engineered to invoke manic hip gyrations, luring bodies out of the darkest nooks and crannies of your local dancehall. Bellowing subs ensure that event the staunchest of screwfaces manage at least a concerted headnod when this drops, while the feminine contingent make a welcome return to the floor.
Not content to rest on his laurels, Untold maintains the pressure with the skip and shuffle of Dante. For some, it’s slinky syncopations may prove the perfect antidote to the bludgeoning machismo that frequently dominates dubstep dancefloors. Pianos, melodic snatches, rolling bass and kicks converge to take dubstep into an altogether more grooving space. Dante harks back to it’s garage roots; percussive, swinging and entirely danceable. Some may even say funky, albeit with a lowercase “f”.
Operating with a different dynamic than the blunt gusto usually required to ignite dubstep floors, Untold clearly understands the seductive quality of groove over sheer force – and this twelve is all the better for it.
Sweat/Dante is released on Hot Flush Two, and is distributed in Australia by Inertia.
