If you are feeling in the mood for something to generate atmosphere, yet downbeat but enough to be stirring, then look no further. The Om Lounge 15th Anniversary album delivers some of the finest lounge house and chilled tunes on the same vibe as Café Del Mar, Café Mambo and the well known Ministry of Sound Chill Out Sessions. Not only does it live up to the high standards set by these big names, it could well blow them well out of the water with every track and minute turning a different, unique corner to really give us something else.

The journey begins with a nice, relaxed, slow paced, jazzy vibe that generates a sombre yet good feel with Rasta Baby by Gelka. A little Balearic guitar mixed with some sleek piano and you have lounge house at its best. This is just the beginning as well and not even scratching the surface of even one dimension of the many layers of tracks that lie within this album. Move Me is another lounge house gem, but more on a summery feel. Very relaxing and easy to sink back to and lose yourself. Leave It All Dub brings back a little more of a jazzy, bluesy vibe but with more soul. Awesome brass sounds on this with the saxophone and trumpet and is a touch sexy and styling.

Take it down a few notches and we even have some ambient, down tempo numbers such as the beautiful, uplifting Amber Sky by Samantha James that has captivating vocals that add a powerful, encompassing, joyful vibe. Spell binding to say the least and one of my favourites. Carry On has a steady, slow beat with some progressive ambience sounds and soothing female vocals that has a solid, nice vibe all the way through it and is aurally stunning. LifeB is colourful and uplifting laced with some haunting samples and deep, resonating bass. Nice acoustic guitar is thrown in as well, complementing this one perfectly.

Away from straight, chilled numbers and you have a simple guitar ballad with You Already Know and even funky numbers like Map Point Baby and jiving break beats with Grooves of the Heart. Ready 2 Wear is slow tribal breaks and this vibe winds down at the end with The Only Dark is Light. Even still, there are other facets of sounds with a splice of reggae on Inside My Love which reminded me of tracks done by The Fugees. Finally, you even have more deep and foreboding selections with the spooky and a little sinister Simmer Down Jammie and Dois Polos.

By the end of this one, I was more than well impressed. It is an awesome, wide spread selection of gems that soothe the soul and will bring you back down to earth every time. Each track deserves its place on this albums’ mantle with never a dull moment from any of them. Every person I have played this to commented on what a blinder it is – guaranteed for lots of air play around many a lounge room across the country!

Nobody has hearted this, be the first Be the first!
