If you’re like me and love your drum n bass with loads of energy, rolling beats and melodies you can grab onto and hold onto for grim life, than Hospital Records is for you. Since I hooked on to London Elektricity’s podcast last year, I’ve never looked back, getting more and more drawn into this DnB world. Definitely the most well known and one of the longest standing labels of the genre, Hospital Records dishes out nothing but quality DnB, sometimes grimy, sometimes chilled, sometimes with gorgeous vocals… but always with quality sound and production.

Earlier this year we had the pleasure of catching London Elektricity’s Tony Coleman touring our shores and for the Melbs gig, he did not disappoint. Hoping for a taste of that night, I grabbed up this latest instalment from the label that claims that DnB is making a comeback, thanks to the rise of dubstep (heard that on the podcast, nonetheless). Joining London Elektricity on this double CD compilation is one of the label’s biggest names High Contrast. Both discs offer up a massive collection of remixes and releases from this year of the most upfront drum and bass. Throw in some exclusive tracks and you have one grimy dirty yet totally accessible drum and bass compilation that is great for the summer. Featuring tracks from names such as Logistics, Camo & Krooked, Nu Tone, Sub Focus, DC Breaks, MRSA, Cyantific, Danny Bryd, and more plus plenty of action from High Contrast and London Elektricity as well.

Watch out for some remixes of some big crossover artists … you’ll either love ‘em or hate ‘em! Totally lovin’ this compilation, as although I LOVE the podcast sounds, it’s nice to have a chance to hear the tunes minus Tony’s chitchat over the top all the time. I may be no expert in Drum and Bass but I gotta say, I think this is SICK.
