We Are Lyve is Moguai’s debut artist release and it is one mercurial offering. Moguai has taken sounds from across the spectrum and blended them perfectly together on a ten track LP where there is never a dull moment. Whether it’s downbeat or a punching tune, this album has it all.

To kick off this interesting blend is a slow-moving number LSD, which sends shivers down your spine. All this does is whet your appetite for more. From there, we go down various roads of tech-house and techno with Imperial and Zyvox. The latter even adds a proggy twist and is one of those slow builders that keeps on your toes until crashing back with a rolling wave of resonating bass. This is beautiful big system music and the break towards the end fits the vibe perfectly.

Ataque is a rawer and primitive sound that is a little more experimental, while Blau adds some synth melody to a minimalistic template. Moguai also throws in a little electro-house in Flex, Rex, Mansion, which has some strong influences from the ‘80s and ‘90s and just to tip the scales in the other direction, Lyve gets a little dark and grungier.

Where the album wins is on its true progressive numbers like Oyster. A smooth melodic start then soars along into a slow rising build-up that takes the track to the next level. Never too heavy and not light and fluffy: just solid, damn good music. This is one of those tracks that is without a doubt going to get airplay on a lot of dancefloors around the world.

Electra is another blinder, with its slow moving, yet powerful intro that gets under your skin and injects you straight away with a rush. An absolute powerhouse of a track, it’s anthem material all the way.

By the end of it, all you want is more. This is a superb collection of well produced music by one talented artist. Most of these tracks have long-term appeal that will have many fans giving this disc some serious mileage through their systems, time after time.

We Are Lyve is out now on Mau5trap Recordings.
