Danny Tenaglia’s second appearance on the Global Underground series of mix CDs comes from London. The fact that this American DJ has been invited into the heart of England to produce a CD on the earth’s most exclusive DJ mix compilations is confirmation that this man who has been DJing for 25 years is finally getting the recognition that he deserves. Tenaglia is a truly dedicated DJ who has worked himself into a position where he will only play 8 hour sets (minimum). It is these 8 hour sets which have seen him become one of the world’s most respected DJs.
The music on these two CDs is testament to the fact that Danny can do it all. He can slide in and out of different genres of music with such style and skill that make most wannabe DJs realise that they may not be quite as good as they initially thought they were. CD 1 starts out on a fairly mellow tip chugging along with lush vocal house music before a couple of familiar tunes in Katcha – Touched by God and ATFC Presents Onephatdeeva – In and Out of My Life. From there, things turn real dark, deep and nasty with tracks such as Coco Dasilva’s – Saudade being a standout.
CD 2 starts out towards the deeper end of the spectrum with a dark tribal feel that Danny is well known for with DJ Linus Otradnoje being a standout. The disk cruises along with restraint until track 8 where in one quick smooth mix the entire feel of the disk is changed. The brakes are off and Danny puts together a string of peak time tunes which would mash up any dance floor all over the world. It is this ability to change the vibe and energy of the music with such clinical precision that makes this man so great.
You really do have to see this man live to get the full-blown experience of what he is capable of. This latest offering from the Global Underground goes a long way towards providing a large window into which you can catch a glimpse of what Danny Tenaglia is all about.
