(SD093 – Stereo Deluxe/Inertia)
Signed to German label Stereo Deluxe, the Funky Lowlives have been hard at work building a reputation for themselves in the live arena around Europe over the past northern summer. Lifted from their debut long player Cartouche, Irreplaceable sees the Lowlives living up to their Funky title, as it is quite a groovy little affair.
Three mixes of the track are featured, the Original, Quantic Mix and Aphratec Rework. Thankfully, all retain the soothing and summery vocals of the original, really giving the track something special. The Quantic Mix sits at around 110bpm and has a broken beat feel to it. The Original has a definite summertime and slightly Latin touch, the more upbeat of the mixes included. However, my money is on the Aphratec Rework. Chilled breaks with an incredibly full and low bass frequency guaranteed to make your windows shake.
